How Can Art Benefit Health? Find Out During This Very Insightful Arts in Healthcare Exhibit

Situated on the Misericordia University campus, Pauly Friedman Art Gallery engages the campus and community in meaningful aesthetic and educational experiences in the visual arts. Currently on display, the Pauly Friedman Art Gallery is proud to present Arts in Healthcare. See it for yourself this Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Arts in Healthcare is a group exhibition curated by the Pauly Friedman Art Gallery to advocate for including the arts in the healthcare environment. This exhibition will provide a space for reflection as well as build observational, diagnostic, and empathic skills.

“‘Arts in Healthcare’ is a group exhibition curated by the Pauly Friedman Art Gallery to advocate for including the arts in the health care environment,” said Lalaine Little, M.A., M.A.T., Ph.D., gallery director. “According to the National Organization for Arts in Health, an arts-enriched environment encourages relaxation, meditation and inspiration – all beneficial activities for patients, staff and visitors in health care settings. Providers and patients also benefit from increased empathy, especially when communication is difficult between providers and patients of different cultural backgrounds.”

Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1924, Misericordia University is Luzerne County’s first four-year college and offers 56 academic programs on the graduate and undergraduate levels in full- and part-time formats. Misericordia University ranks in the top tier of the Best Regional Universities – North category of U.S. News and World Report’s 2019 edition of Best Colleges.
