Support This Local University While Hearing Moving Music During a Free Event

Relax after a long week with an evening of smooth melodies. This Friday, October 26th, John Maurer and Nate Petley will present “Songs for My Son" as part of their debut album concert tour. The concert will occur at Misericordia University’s Lemmond Theatre, where Maurer is the Soyka Artist-in-Residence for the 2018-19 academic year.

As an award-wining trumpet and flugelhorn artist and educator who has performed across the country and in Canada, Mr. Mauer has appeared as a soloist for the Rev. Jesse L. Jackson and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, and before audiences at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall and the Curtis Institute of Music. He was also a semi-finalist for the National Trumpet Competition.

Additionally, Mr. Maurer serves as a teaching artist at the historic Bethel Woods Center for the Arts and head of the brass and woodwind studio at the Black Bear Conservatory of Music.

Maurer is joined by Nate Petley – an accomplished pianist, multi-instrumentalist and accompanist – for this event. Petley has played in numerous professional ensembles and has taught across Central and Southeastern Pennsylvania. Nate was awarded with an Outstanding Soloist Award during the Crescent City Jazz Festival in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Admission to witness what promises to be an unforgettable evening is free. This free event is made possible by the Soyka Fund for the Humanities.
